Casa Cook Rhodes Review

"Positioned at the foot of imposing Tsambika mountain is this uber-relaxing retreat, a boutique boho-chic bolthole designed to draw a new generation of savvy travellers - though age is nothing but a number here. The vibe falls somewhere between Palm Springs and Mykonos, while service is warmly Rhodian" (The Telegraph).

The creators crafted an earthy, deeply comfortable haven that manages to draw on the ethereal energy of Tsambika mountain. Architect Vana Pernari’s white angular low buildings and exposed stone exteriors are set against a backdrop of chirping birds, palm and olive trees, cacti and bloom-filled gardens. Summer’s much-needed northerly breeze flows through wide open spaces. Soft taupe lounges, rattan egg chairs and sculpted wooden stools grace the welcome area. It’s not just twenty-somethings strategically framing shots for the ‘gram either; couples in their 30s and 40s mingle easily in this environment.

Dining

KITCHEN CLUB - A HANGOUT FOR DAY & NIGHT - From the time the sun rises, to well after it sets, this is the heart and soul of Casa Cook. Poolside is where we feast and chill to the deep groove of the DJ's beats. Breakfast buffets heave with fresh fruit, non-dairy smoothies and egg dishes best scooped up with wood fire-baked village bread, plus treats such s xerotigano, a crisp honey and walnut pastry from nearby Archangelos village. Folksy tunes and low volume conversation fill the air in a shady terrace, where potted herbs and a vegetable garden add to the wholesomeness. Poolside lunch options include a fresh twist on watermelon and feta salad as well as flash-fried shrimp from Symi island. Dinner amid a tiled fantasy creature-filled rainforest is an upbeat affair. Among standout dishes are the pork mince and anthotyro cheese-stuffed ravioli and grilled tuna, ideally paired with Cair’s 2400, a pear-scented local white.
