LOCATION
The family-run Hotel Paralos Irini Mare has a wonderful, quiet location between gently sloping hills, surrounded by beautiful nature, above a small bay with a wonderful view of the Libyan sea and approx. 100 m from the blue flag awarded beach of Agia Galini. After just a ten-minute sea-side walk you can reach the picturesque village of Agia Galini with its many taverns, cafes and narrow streets that are perfect for strolling. The distance to Heraklion Airport is approximately 80 km.
Matala, the famous hippy village, the well-known sight of Minoan Palace of Phaistos, the new archeological museum, Preveli palm beach and Samaria village are only some of the many sightseeings worth visiting in the area.

DESCRIPTION
This completely renovated, warmly and carefully managed complex with a total of 131 renovated rooms consists of a main house and 12 outbuildings, which are spread out in the beautifully landscaped garden. It offers its guests a lobby with an English/German-speaking 24-hour reception, which has a balcony with a wonderful view over the bay and the sea, a luggage room, a small library and a free, camera-monitored parking lot. The new “Galini” lobby bar is the ideal spot to relax with a sundowner drink every evening. Wi-Fi is included throughout the complex. The modern, newly renovated non-smoking buffet restaurant with 3 show cooking stations invites you to linger with its outdoor terrace with olive trees and fragrant bushes. The well-kept garden offers more than 30 different types of herbs, flowers and trees, giving you an idea of the flora of Crete. The tea corner at the breakfast buffet is stocked with fresh herbs from the Cretan botanical garden with local mountain tea, thyme, oregano and lavender. The fruit and vegetables come from the Messara region, where Agia Galini belongs, which is known for its fruitfulness. The hotel also has its own vegetable garden, where part of the hotel’s vegetables, herbs and fruits come from. Palm trees, olive and carob trees are spread around the three large semi-salt swimming pools. One of the Pools is enriched with magnesium, which is particularly good for hair, skin and health and has an integrated jacuzzi. One of the pools is also the Zen Zone quiet pool area. There is also a children’s pool in the gardens, as well as a pool bar with a sun terrace and sunbathing lawn. The pools are cleaned on an ecological basis using a salt electrolysis system. Loungers and gazebos are available here free of charge, as are pool towels. There is a brand new indoor and outdoor gym, with calisthenics and Matrix equipment. Loungers on the beach are available for a fee through local providers. Out of respect for the natural beauty of the landscape, umbrellas are largely avoided at Irini Mare. Instead, you can enjoy the natural shade of the palm trees and acacias that have grown here since the hotel opened. Insider Tip: The large olive tree next to the children’s playground is over 200 years old, so you can enjoy the shade of a centuries while sitting on the bench around it.

GASTRONOMY
At Irini Mare, tradition and good food play a significant role! Since 2021, the gastronomical concept has been curated by the support of the famous Greek chef Giannis Baxevanis. The hotel only uses local Cretan and Greek products to bring you the healthy, delicious and authentic Cretan cuisine from the garden to the table. Irini Mare only cooks with local olive oil from the hotel’s groves near the archaeological palace of Phaistos. Enjoy your breakfast and dinner and experience a glimpse of typical Cretan cuisine.
The extensive breakfast buffet (7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.) is freshly prepared before your eyes and pampers you with freshly squeezed juices made from seasonal fruits (subject to availability, e.g. oranges, figs, pomegranates and medlars from the hotel’s groves ) as well as smoothies, waffles, eggs in various variations and Greek specialties.
There is an a la carte lunch (12-3:30 p.m.) by the pool with healthy snacks and Greek dishes with a modern twist (extra charge)
Dinner takes place from (7 p.m. to 9 p.m.) in buffet form with 3 show cooking stations, where varied meals are conjured up from fresh, regional ingredients. A brand-new a-la-carte restaurant will be operating from 2024, offering an authentic, traditional Cretan set menu (included once per 7 full days for HB Guests, reservation required). Vegetables and herbs from the hotel’s own garden are exclusively used at the new a-la-carte restaurant offering a true farm to table experience.
Vegetarian, gluten- and lactose-free dishes are also offered upon prior arrangement with the hotel.
